Since its beginnings as a grassroots gathering, Northern Bass has grown into one of New Zealand’s most recognised electronic music festivals – bringing together world-class artists, heavyweight sound and a community that gathers year after year.

Northern Bass has helped shape the sound of New Year’s for a generation.

Over the past 15 years the festival has built a reputation for delivering line-ups and experiences that reflect where electronic music is heading, while creating a New Year’s tradition for thousands across New Zealand and beyond.

The demand for that experience remains stronger than ever.

Last year’s event sold out well ahead of time, with more than 3,500 people joining the waitlist after tickets had already sold out, highlighting the continued appetite for the Northern Bass experience.

Festival Director Gareth Popham says reaching the 15-year milestone is a proud moment for the team behind the event.

“For 15 years Northern Bass has been about getting the moment right – the artists, the sound and the experience,” he says.

“This milestone means a lot to everyone who has helped build the event over the years. We’re excited about what we’re putting together and we’re looking forward to celebrating it with you all”.|

While full details of this year’s event will be revealed later, organisers have confirmed the festival will feature three stages across two days and nights on December 30 and 31 – with a programme designed to mark the occasion.

Further details will be announced later this year.
15 years on, Northern Bass remains one of the defining sounds of New Year’s in Aotearoa.
