A sold-out powerstation doesn’t leave a lot of dancing room, but Thundercat wouldn’t have it any other way. The genre-warping virtuoso packed the venue wall to wall, as Thundercat played his first of two New Zealand shows at the Powerstation in Auckland last night.

Joined by funk five-piece Black Comet, whose cosmic blend of soul, funk and future-facing grooves proved a fitting launchpad for the night.
